Seattle Pet Valet

Beyond the US and Canada

International pet relocation to and from Seattle

Moving abroad with your pet, or bringing your pet to the US or Canada from another country? We plan the move with you: the papers, the crate, the vet visits, the booking, the customs help, and the pickup and delivery at each end.

One plan for the whole move

Every country has its own rules for pets coming in, and some change them often. A move to the UK, Japan or Australia can take months of preparation, while a move to Mexico can be quick. So every international move is planned by hand: you tell us where, when and about your pet, and we come back with a plan and a quote.

A plan usually covers:

  • The papers the other country asks for, in the right order and on time, such as a microchip, vaccines, a blood test, a health certificate or an import permit
  • An airline approved crate in the right size
  • The booking for your pet, at a time that suits your pet
  • Customs clearance through a licensed customs broker
  • Pickup at your home and delivery to your new door, or at the airport if you prefer

International pet moves: questions

How far ahead should I plan an international move?
As soon as you know your dates. Some countries ask for a rabies blood test and a waiting period of weeks or months, or an import permit, before your pet can arrive. Others are quick. We tell you which applies once we know the country.
Who gets the papers for the other country?
Your vet does the exam, the vaccines and the certificates, and you pay the vet directly. We tell you which papers the country asks for and when, check them with you, and can book the vet visits. We arrange the customs clearance through a licensed customs broker.
Can my snub-nosed dog or cat move abroad?
Many airlines do not take these breeds in the cargo hold, so an international move for them takes more planning. Tell us the breed in the quote form and we tell you honestly what is possible.
Do you move pets into the US from abroad?
Yes. Dogs coming into the US face CDC rules that depend on the country they come from, and some states add their own. We go through them with you for your country and your dates.
Is this the same as moving to Canada?
No. Moves between the US and Canada are much simpler and have their own guide: moving pets between Canada and the US.
